Can hurricane straps be used to reinforce electrical conduit installations during high-wind events?

While hurricane straps are primarily designed for structural reinforcement of framing members, they can play a critical role in stabilizing electrical conduit runs in high-wind environments common to the Northeast. Properly securing conduit with hurricane straps or equivalent hardware helps prevent movement that can cause joint failure or cable damage during nor'easters or hurricanes.

When used for conduit support, ensure that the straps are rated for the load and environmental conditions, including resistance to salt air corrosion. The NEC requires secure fastening of conduit to prevent strain on conductors (NEC 344.30), and hurricane straps can provide added reinforcement where standard conduit clamps may not suffice.
